All Campus Solutions Application COBOL Programs Fail with Error not Specified After Applying Code From New PUM Image (Doc ID 2766215.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9.2 and later
PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Student Administration - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to run any Campus Solutions COBOL process, on-line or batch, the process fails.

For on-line processes, the message on the component will indicate the program aborted, but provide no other detail. If a log (.out) file is obtained, this file will not show any error detail, and the corresponding .err file (if one was produced) will be empty. The .out file will confirm that the process is looking in the correct location for the cobol executable.

For batch processes, the Process Monitor will indicate the process ended in error, but no log file is produced.

The COBOLS failing were all successfully compiled, and the executables all exist in the correct CBLBIN where the servers are looking to execute the code.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to any component with an on-line/remote call COBOL process, or a run control to execute a batch COBOL process.
  2. Click the button to run the remote call, or run the batch process.

Changes

The issue occurs after upgrading to a new PUM Image and compiling new COBOL source code delivered in the Image.
