E-ES: No Results Returned From PTPORTALREGISTRY -- PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target (Doc ID 2767841.1)

Symptoms

Configured SSL on both PeopleSoft and Elasticsearch. Indexed PTPORTALREGISTRY successfully and there is data inside Elasticsearch. However searching the Navigator gives no results at all. We see the following errors in the logs:

<ES_HOME>/logs/ESCLUSTER.log:
