When scheduling courses for a term, courses with more than one component will have the LMS Extract File Type field populated, even if the setting is blank in the Course Catalog. Some institutions want to schedule multi-component courses with only one component having a value in the LMS Extract File Type field.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Add a Lab to the existing Course with blank LMS Extract File Type field so it has a Lecture and Laboratory component now. On the Components tab, verify that the Laboratory component is blank for the LMS Extract File Type field but for Lecture LMS Extract File type is populated.                               Navigation: Curriculum Management=>Course Catalog=> Course Catalog.
  2. On the Schedule New Course page add Laboratory component using Auto Create Component to the Class.                                                            Navigation: Curriculum Management=>Schedule of Classes=> Schedule New Course.
  3. Result: LMS Extract File Type and LMS Extract Group ID are populated for both components.
