E-AD: Changing the Description on a Classic Page in Application Designer Causes the 'Parent Field ID' Column to Be Populated for All the Fields in That Page (Doc ID 2775418.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.58 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After upgrade to 8.58.07, modifying and saving Classic pages cause the 'Parent Field ID' column, in the 'Order' Tab of the Page definition, to be populated for all the fields in that page, even though the user didn't touch any of those fields. This behavior is not observed in PeopleTools 8.56.14.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

Note: The 'QUERY_VIEWER' page is referenced just as an example. The issue is observed in any Classic page.

1. In App Designer, open a Classic page, such as the 'QUERY_VIEWER' page.
2. Go to the 'Order' tab. Note that the 'Parent Field ID' is empty.
3. Open the Page Properties and make a minor change to the Description. Click OK and Save the page.
4. Back to the Page definition, 'Order' tab, note that 'QUERY_VIWER$0' has been added to the 'Parent Field ID' column for all the fields in the Page.

Changes

The issue is observed after upgrade to PeopleTools 8.58.07.
