E-PC: SearchSave PeopleCode Events Executing With Lookup Prompt (Doc ID 2790212.1)

Last updated on JULY 12, 2021

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.58 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SaveSearch events are being fired when a lookup prompt is used. This is happening when the Allow Search Events for Prompt Dialogs checkbox is not selected. The SaveSearch event should not be firing.

Per the following PeopleBooks documentation, SearchSave events will should only execute if the Allow Search Events for Prompt Dialogs check box is selected for the search key’s record field properties in Application Designer.

PeopleBooks for PeopleTools 8.5x > Products > Development Tools > PeopleCode Developer’s Guide > PeopleCode and the Component Processor > PeopleCode Events > SearchSave Event

Specifically the section: SearchSave with Prompt Dialogs

"Beginning with PeopleTools 8.50, you can put PeopleCode on the SearchInit and SearchSave events on the search keys of prompt table records. SearchInit and SearchSave events will only execute if the Allow Search Events for Prompt Dialogs check box is selected for the search key’s record field properties in Application Designer. By default Allow Search Events for Prompt Dialogs is off."

Changes

Noticed after upgrading to PeopleTools 8.58.
