EBI9.2:What is the Purpose of the From Date and To Date on the Invoice header and lines, Can They Be Used as Reporting Fields Only? (Doc ID 2798497.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 10, 2021

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise SCM Billing - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

What is the purpose of the From Date and To Date on the Invoice header and lines?
These fields are used for deferred revenue when setting the revenue recognition basis to use From/To date, but if these are kept to Invoice date, will there be any other processing done with these dates or will they be there for informational purpose only?

Scope is to populate the billing interface with transactions from a subsystem and have a subscription start and end date that users would like to populate in PeopleSoft for reporting purposes. As per PeopleBooks, From Date and To Date indicate the date range of billing activity that the corresponding invoice covers.
What about the start and end date on the Header/Line project info page? The entering bills section doesn't seem to explain what these fields are used for.

Is it OK to assume that if using the invoice date as the revenue recognition basis, the From Date and To Date can be used as reporting fields only (to identify the period for which billing is done) and no processing is done based upon these fields?
Does the same apply to the Start and End Date on the Line Project Information page?
