E-PORTAL: Unable to Load Classic Homepage with Onelogin External Signon Solution in Place

Symptoms
When user authentication goes through External Signon solution OneLogin, in the application server log file it is observed that the switch user happens, but still the default Classic HomePage of the user won't open. Error is given:
The URL in the browser reads:
https://<proxy hostname>/psp/<sitename>/?cmd=login&errorPg=err&langageCd=ENG
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. From the custom Portal, click on the PeopleSoft tile/link.
That should start the external signon process. After entering credentials and 2-factor authentication, user should be taken t the Classic Homepage.
Instead, the error above is displayed.
