Last updated on DECEMBER 14, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.58 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a user's password has expired, and the user logs in on the PeopleSoft Signon page - the page correctly redirected to "Change Password" page to change the password.
However, when the password expired employee tries to access a self-service link or any other direct URL of page/component, they are being prompted to change password however once selecting "Click here to change your password." The system routes the user to a page where they receive "Authorization Error -- Contact your Security Administrator". Or they may get the error "Invalid node QE_LOCAL in request. Node not defined, or URI setup incomplete. Unable to process request with an invalid node" The URL to this page contains "/?cmd=userprofile" at end.

Below are the examples of few Test Cases to replicate the issue:
Test Case 1:
1. Expire the password for TEST1 user.
2. Login with Signon page - URL as : "http://<sitename>:<port>/psp/xxxxx/?cmd=login"
3. Password Expired warning appear. Click continue and it route to change password component i.e MAINTAIN_SECURITY.EXPIRE_CHANGE_PSWD.GBL
4. user can set new password. It works fine.

Test Case 2:
1. Expire the password for TEST1 user.
2. Login with some direct page URL, lets say
"http://<sitename>:<port>/psc/ps/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/EL_MANAGER_FL.HR_DR_TEAM_FLU.GBL"
3. Password Expired warning appear. Click continue and it will route to "http://<sitename>:<port>/psc/ps/?cmd=userprofile" and throws error "Authorization Error -- Contact your Security Administrator"
4. User cannot change the password. Same when user get email link to change password on password expiration, it shows "Authorization Error"
