Person Communication Variable Data Button Not Accessible After Applying PUM 23 (Doc ID 2824206.1)

Last updated on MARCH 11, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Campus Community - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After applying PUM 23, when attempting to assign a new Person Communication, the Variable Data button is greyed out and the underlying data can't be entered.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Navigate to Campus Community > Communications > Person Communications > Communication Management
  2. Click Add a New Value
  3. Enter the ID
  4. Fill in the Function, Communication Key --> Variable Data button remains disabled or greyed out.

This can also be seen when using some Communication Speed Keys.  Please see the workaround listed below.

Changes

To enable the new Allow Any Term configuration option to be applied to the  selection of term values on the Variable Data page (for Bug 30396804), the  enabling of the Variable Data button was switched from being triggered by the  selection of Function to being triggered by the selection of Category. This is working as expected when the Category is selected from the lookup, or when a Communication Key is defaulted in (based on User Defaults), but there is an issue when no default is defined and the Communication Key is selected from the lookup.  In that case the Category (and other fields) are populated as expected but the Variable Data button is not enabled as expected.
