Goal
Although alerts are working, some aspects of the functionality do not seem to behave as expected. For example, a user created a query selecting employees who have an action required on their performance evaluation. When their evaluation enters a specific state of readiness, a notification is sent to alert the employee through both email and push notification that it is ready for their review. The requirement is to alert the employee once a week until he acknowledges his evaluation, thereby dropping him from the query result set.
The EOEN_ALERT process is scheduled to run once daily, with the notification interval on the Alert Definition set to 168 hours. This way new people showing up in the query will be notified the next time the process runs, and their next notification will be a week from that time.
However, the interval is set at the higher level of process name and category rather than the transaction level of the individual being notified. This means that if a new person appears on the query 30 minutes after the notifications have been sent for the week, they will not be notified for an entire week. Furthermore, the interval only applies to emails, not push notifications. So, during that week, the person would get 7 push notifications.
Is this the expected behavior? Is there an alternate solution to change the behavior?
