Fluid Class Search Displays Course Code and Title Without Class Options when Using Meeting Pattern Facet and Meeting Pattern is Blank in Course Setup Such as for Web Based (Online) Courses (Doc ID 2834957.1)

Symptoms

When using Fluid Class Search with a meeting pattern filter, courses that are set up without any meeting pattern filter - such as a course that is web based (online) - will display in the search results with the course code and description, but no class options to choose from.

It makes sense that a course without a defined meeting pattern does not qualify to display in results filtered by meeting pattern (though a near identical search performed in the Classic version will result in the course being returned with the class options(s)). But in that case, the course row should be omitted altogether from the search results, rather than displaying the row for the student without any way to select a class option.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Set up and enable the Meeting Pattern facet for use with Class Search.
  2. In the course setup, Meetings tab, under Class Sections, set the 'Pat' field to blank on at least one row.
  3. Enroll a student in the course.
  4. As the student, navigate to Manage My Classes > Search and Enroll.
  5. Verify that Meeting day filters show on the left side.
  6. Search for the course and note a row is returned with the course code and description, but no class options available.
