When attempting to deploy PUM DPK on Linux or PeopleTools DPK on Linux/AIX/Solaris/HP-UX servers as a root user, the following error occurs:

On-Screen -

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Download the PeopleTools/PUM DPK.
2. Initiate the deployment as a root user.
3. When asked to specify a writable directory for the user home directory, provide something like ‘testhome’.
4. Examine the setup log for the error.
