Converting to AES Encryption For Student Financials (Doc ID 2853691.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 26, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Student Financials - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The 3DES encryption algorithm is now considered obsolete and is maintained for backward compatibility only.

It is recommended to create a new set of Encryption and Decryption profiles not based on 3DES and instead use another similar, but stronger algorithm such as AES.

For more information on profiles, see the Defining Encryption Profiles topic in PeopleTools PeopleBook under Security Administration, “Securing Data with PeopleSoft Encryption Technology”. For more information on Encryption Algorithms, see the Privacy Through Encryption topic in PeopleTools PeopleBook Security Administration, “Understanding PeopleSoft Encryption Technology”.

AES algorithms are available in PeopleTools 8.57.15 and beyond.

For more information on re-encryption, see Campus Solutions PeopleBook, Student Financials, Setting up ePayment Processing, Re-encrypting Credit Card, Bank Account Numbers, Security Code Data, and Security Key.
