E-AWE: Requisitions Approval Email Notifications Use the Requester's Email Address as 'FROM' Sender Instead of the Server Configured Email Address
(Doc ID 2857318.1)
Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025
Applies to:
PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.57 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Requisitions Approval Email Notifications submitted by users are not going to the approvers for approval. The functionality was working until a week ago, when Microsoft Exchange cloud servers started routing from a number of different hosts.
Sample Environment:
PeopleTools: 8.57.11
Application : HCM 9.2.36, FIN 9.2.37
Steps to replicate:
1. Create a Requisitions transaction (e.g. by navigating to Purchasing > Requisitions > Add).
2. Submit for approval workflow.
3. No email notifications are received by the Approvers.
Changes
Changes due to spoofing resulted in a required change to the setup. This means that emails can effectively originate from any IP address Microsoft may decide to use. Spoofing protection denotes that an email address should not be able to be sent from an external IP address, and since the change, approvers reported that emails have stopped working. In order for this functionality to work with the IP restrictions in place, the sender must be FROM the system, or from a specifically defined email address TO the approver.
