EGL 9.2: Performance Issue When Deleting Large Journals Due to New Kibana Table PS_GL_K_JRNL_DEL
(Doc ID 2859368.1)
Last updated on SEPTEMBER 26, 2022
Applies to:
PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN General Ledger - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
A new table was added to the journal delete process for Kibana purposes. The table name = PS_GL_K_JRNL_DEL. The method to populate this table is to check every journal line to see if it is in the table and then copies field to the table when they are missing. When a journal is very large (for example 130K lines +) this new code makes deleting a journal take 15 or more minutes - and then it times out rather than the normal 5 minutes it used to take.
Steps
1) Create a journal with a very large number of lines. (General Ledger -> Journals -> Journal Entry -> Create/Update Journals)
2) Try to delete the journal
NOTE: <Bug 33925774> ONLY fixes the performance problem for deleting journals from: General Ledger -> Journals -> Journal Entry -> Create/Update Journals
A new bug has been created for the below optional ways to delete a journal:
GL Workcenter -> Mass Delete Journals AND
General Ledger -> Journals. -> Process Journals -> Delete Journals in Mass
Please see solution section for both bugs.
