Scanning Asset Tag Numbers during Physical Inventory Process Using Handheld Scanner Behaves Differently Between PT 8.58.09 and PT 8.59.03.
In PT 8.58.09, during the Physical Inventory process, scanning asset Tag Numbers with a handheld scanner automatically marks the asset as scanned without the need to physically press a key on the keyboard or click into another field.
As of PT 8.59 the Tab key must be pressed every time after scanning an asset’s Tag Number with a handheld scanner.

Steps to replicate:

PT: 8.58.09

1.  Select Asset Tracking from the drop down menu at the top of the page
2.  Select Physical Inventory
3.  Search for any PI ID
(PI ID ‘US001-2’ was used for this example)
4.  Click Done
5.  Click into the ‘Scan Tag’ field
6.  Using a handheld Bluetooth scanner scan an assets tag number barcode.
7.  The asset’s details are generated in the middle of the screen and the asset is marked as scanned in the scan scope list on the left side of the page. The Scan Tag field is changed to ‘Scan Next Tag’.
8.  If the scanned Tag Number is not in the Scan Scope list then an error message will be prompted indicating the Tag Number was not found immediately after scanning the Tag Number

PT: 8.59.03

1.  Select Asset Tracking from the drop down menu in the top of the page.
2.  Select Physical Inventory
3.  Search for any PI ID
(PI ID ‘PI-BOSTON’ was used for this example)
4.  Click Done
5.  Click into the Scan Tag field
6.  Using a handheld Bluetooth scanner scan an assets tag number barcode
7.  The text from scanning the barcode is placed in the Scan Tag field but the asset is not marked as scanned as expected
8.  The Tab key on the keyboard must be pressed to mark the asset as scanned
9.  If the scanned Tag Number is not in the Scan Scope list then an error message will be prompted indicating the Tag Number was not found only after pressing the Tab key on the keyboard.

NOTE: In the above steps, user details / customer name / address / email / telephone number represent a fictitious sample (based up made up data used in the Product name test environment).
Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner.
