Goal
As of June 11, 2021, the Federal Student Aid (FSA) announced that there will be a phased in approach to the implementation of the FAFSA Simplification Act, which passed on December 27, 2020 as part of the Consolidated Appropriates Act, 2021 (CAA). The FAFSA Simplification Act represents a significant overhaul of the federal student aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, need analysis, and many policy and procedures for schools that participate in the Title IV programs.
Some changes already implemented are documented in <Note 2785193.1>. The purpose of this document is to provide information and documentation, as it becomes available, with regards to the next phases of implementation, including the Student Aid Index. Support is beginning to receive questions, such as has the implementation been officially delayed from Aid Year 2024 to Aid Year 2025; are any technical documents available yet; etc.
