GP/AM: Previous Value Accumulator (PREV_VAL_ACUM) Does Not Persist/Resets to Zero Under Certain Conditions (Doc ID 2872680.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 17, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Absence Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Global Payroll/Absence Management 9.2.  The System Element PREV_VAL_ACUM (Previous Value Accumulator) does not persist/resets to zero under certain conditions.

  1. Absence Entitlement Balance accumulators (Setup HCM>Product Related>Global Payroll and Absence Management>Elements>Supporting Elements>Formulas) are configured to carry over balances to a new reporting period (calendar/fiscal/quarter, etc).
  2. The calculation of the end-of-reporting period calendar correctly converts the balance to the new period and stores the data to a system element called PREV_VAL_ACUM.
  3. During the processing of the new reporting period calendar, an employee is given a job data change, retroactive to the old period.
  4. When this current calendar is calculated, the retro process recalculates whatever older calendars fell within the date range of the retroactive job data change, to the current period.
  5. This process (erroneously) resets the PREV_VAL_ACUM to zero and wipes out the carry over balance
