E-PORTAL: Duplicate Sessions Are Created in WebLogic on Content Provider Environments Upon Signing-in to Portal (Doc ID 2872754.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An additional session is created in the content provider environments (e.g.: HCM, FSCM, Campus) after logging into Portal.
As a user signs in to Portal, 1 new session is created for the Portal application, as expected. However, 2 new sessions are created in the Content Providers' web server. Upon signout, one of the sessions that was created for the Content Providers remains in the web server. That 'orphan' session remains in the web server until it times out. The one created for the Portal is gone.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

[The use case below illustrates the issue when the cluster is composed by Portal iHub, as the Portal application, and Campus Solutions, as the Content Provider application.]

1. Login to Portal iHub and monitor the sessions in the WebLogic console for both Portal and Campus.
2. As a user signs in to Portal, 1 new session is created in the Portal iHub web server, as expected. However, 2 new sessions are created for Campus, in the Campus web server.
3. Upon signout, one of the sessions that was created for Campus remains in the web server. That 'orphan' session remains in the Campus web server until it times out. The one created for iHub is gone.
