E-MSS/AE: Linked Server SQL Fails With Error "Unable to start a nested transaction for OLE DB provider "MSOLEDBSQL" for linked server" (Doc ID 2885056.1)

Symptoms

After upgrading from PeopleTools (PT) 8.56.07 to 8.59.08, a custom Application Engine (AE) program run fails when executing a SQL step with a DB vendor specific statement "SET XACT_ABORT ON". The error message farther down is see in the Process Monitor.

 
Replication Steps
--------------------

1. Create a linked server in MS SQL server to another SQL server (e.g. WIN2012R2STD).

NOTE: Make sure the MSDTC setup is correct so the linked server works properly.

 

2. In Application Designer, open the delivered sample AEMINITEST AE program, and in the SQL step, add the SQL below and save the AE program.

 Upgraded to PT 8.59.08.
