EPY: FICA Taxes Missing When 'Paid Leave' Is Set To "FICA" Instead of "All Gross" In Taxable Gross Definition in Microsoft SQL (Doc ID 2898354.1)

Last updated on APRIL 15, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Payroll for North America - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

FICA is not being calculated when 'Paid leave' is set to FICA in the Taxable Gross Definition.

FICA should be calculated without setting the base gross for Paid Leave back to "All Gross".

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Taxable Gross Definition for "WA" Paid Leave was changed to base gross "FICA" from "All Gross" - Set Up HCM > Product Related > Payroll for North America > Federal/State Taxes > Taxable Gross Definition Table
2. Earning Code "TPD" is configured for "FICA" and not FWT with add to gross pay checked on - Set Up HCM > Product Related > Payroll for North America > Compensation and Earnings > Earnings Table
3. Add an off-cycle paysheet and enter an amount of $32.80 only on the paysheet for earning code "TPD" - Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Update Paysheets > By Paysheet
4. Run the payroll calculation - Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Produce Payroll > Calculate Payroll
5. Verify the review paycheck does not calculate FICA on paycheck - Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Produce Payroll > Review Paycheck
6. Go back to the Taxable Gross Definition and change it back to base gross "All Gross" - Set Up HCM > Product Related > Payroll for North America > Federal/State Taxes > Taxable Gross Definition Table
7. Run the payroll calculation again - Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Produce Payroll > Calculate Payroll
8. Verify the review paycheck that shows the FICA being calculated - Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Produce Payroll > Review Paycheck
