EGL9.2:Journal Results in Journal Status = E ('Combo error for fields XXXXX/XXXXX in group xxxxx)' Due to Invalid Combo Edit for Line/s with Zero (0) Monetary/Foreign Amounts. (Doc ID 2903035.1)

Last updated on JULY 02, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN General Ledger - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Journal header has been marked in error for the journal line in combo build error where Monetary Amount and Foreign Amount are equal to 0.

Before, such as in Image 23, this kind of transaction would get validated successfully.  Is there any change in the Edit Journal process functionality affecting this feature?

Error:

Steps to replicate:

1. Journal Edit Suspense Chartfields ‘not’ set up (Select Default to Higher Value or Recycle)
   (Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Business Unit Related > Ledgers for a Unit)

2. Set up Chartfield Combination Editing:

  a.  Combo Edit Definition setup.
      (Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definition > Design Chartfields > Combination Editing > Define CF Combination)

  b.  Combination Rule.
         Account = 600020
         Department = 14000
       (Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definition > Design Chartfields > Combination Editing > Combination Rule)

  c.  Combination Group.
      (Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definition > Design Chartfields > Combination Editing > Combination Group)
      Marking anchor values not in rules as valid, while combination define as invalid.

  d.  Link Combo Edit set up to Ledgers for a Unit:
         Business Unit = US001
         Ledger Group = RECORDING
         Chartfield Combo Edit:
         Process Group = ACCDEP

  e.  Run Build Combination Data Request process.
      (Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definition > Design Chartfields > Combination Editing > Build Combination Data)

3. Create a new journal:
    Journal ID xxxxxxxxx. Both Line 1 and 2 have invalid CF combination and whose Amount fields are populated with 0 amount.

4. Run Edit Journal process. Both lines in Error and Journal Status = E due to combo error.

See replication document here.

Changes

For journal created online or uploaded from external sources (i.e. Spreadsheet Journal Import or Flat File Import), such scenario would go into valid status, and was reported in <Bug 33332219> and fixed in Image 42.
However, per Development, this is wrong, and should have been working as designed, hence they reworked this bug fix and delivered the fix in <Bug 34605226> included in Image 46.
The fix should validate the journal (Journal Status = V) with combo edit error and foreign/monetary amount = 0.
