Symptoms

The SAFI handler creates an initial SFP program record based on the current Career/Program/Plan (CPP). The student's Program is then changed by the process of process of discontinuing the original career number (e.g. undergraduate career number 0) and adding a new career number to represent the new program (e.g. undergraduate career number 1).

In such cases, the SAFI handler creates a a new SFP program record unnecessarily, when the expected/desired behavior would be to update the original SFP program record. The current behavior can lead to various processing issues in the SFP system.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Campus Community > Student Fin Planning Interface > Process SFP Messages and run the process for the Student Academic and Fin Info (SAFI) Message Class, to create an initial SFP program record for a student.
  2. Navigate to Records and Enrollment > Career and Program Information > Student Program/Plan > Student Program.
  3. Discontinue the original program row and add a new career number row to represent a new program.
  4. Repeat step 1 and note that the SAFI generates a new SFP program record rather than updating the original record.
