HCM: After Setting Up Approval Escalation Options for Any Approval Process Transaction, Application Engine EOAW_NEM Cancels the Transaction but PS_HR_ADDR_CHG_DAT Workflow Status is In Progress

Symptoms
After setting up Approval Escalation options for a transaction such as Address Change,
Application Engine EOAW_NEM Cancels the transaction such as Address Change transaction but PS_HR_ADDR_CHG_DAT workflow status is In progress (Fields SS_STAT_INDICATOR and WF_STATUS).
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Set up Timeout Options Cancel, 30 Days for AddressChange byAdministrator Approval transaction.
Navigation: Enterprise Components > Approvals > Approvals > Approval Process Setup >{search/select} Process ID AddressChange,
in Definition Options section, click Timeout Options link
2. In Notification and Escalations make sure the ESCALATIONS are Active.
a. Event ID CALENDARBASEDESCALATIONS should be active
Navigation: Common Definitions > Approvals > Notifications and Escalations >Define Events
b. Event ID ESCALATIONS should be active.
c. Integration Broker Set Up. EOAW_ESCALATIONS Queue Status should be run
Navigation: Peopletools > Integration Broker > Integration Setup > Queue Definitions
d. Service Operation EOAW_ESCALTIONS should be active
Navigation: Peopletools > Integration Broker > Integration Setup > Service Operations Definitions
3. Log in as a Employee and submit AddressChange Transaction
Navigation: Employee Self Service tile > Person Details tile > Addresses tile
4. Setup Job NEM_MAIN to use the component to PRCSMULTI to run the job from System Process Requests
Navigation: Peopletools > Process Scheduler > Jobs- Search for NEM_MAIN
5. After 1 hour, Run the Job NEM_MAIN, EOAW_NEM, which triggers AE EOAW_NEM_PRC
Navigation: Peopletools > Process Scheduler > System Process Requests
6. After EOAW_NEM_PRCs are successful, notice that the AddressChange Transaction is cancelled.
Navigation: Menu > Workforce Administration > Self Service Transactions > Address Change:
7. However, using SQL or Query, the table PS_HR_ADDR_CHG_DAT, the workflow status is In progress (I) for fields SS_STAT_INDICATOR and WF_STATUS.
