Symptoms
The amount of payment plan installments and the payment plan administrative fee presented to a student during self service enrollment are different than the amounts posted to the student account. The student has made prior personal payments, or has had Financial Aid apply to the charges prior to enrolling in the payment plan. The installment amounts shown during self service enrollment are calculated on the net amount owed of total eligible charges less prior credits. The payment plan administrative fee, which is calculated based a percentage of the total payment plan, is also calculated on the net amount of the charges.
When the payment plan posts to the student account, the installment amounts are calculated based on the total charges. Prior credits are not considered in the amounts. Prior payments or Financial Aid apply to the first installment. The administrative fee is also calculated based on total charges.
The amounts presented during self service enrollment should be the amounts posted to the student account.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Sign in as a student;
- Enroll in a payment plan;
- Note the due amount for the term the payment plan was enrolled in;
- Sign in as an administrator;
- Navigate to Student Financials, View Customer Account;
- Select the student who enrolled in the payment plan via self service;
- View the Payment Plan account;
- The administrative fee and installment amounts are higher than those presented during the self service session.
