E-ES: Incorrect URL in Global Search After Tools Upgrade: 'Site name is not valid. Check your url syntax and try again'

Symptoms
After having upgraded to Peopletools 8.59.09, when navigating to Home page and clicking on the Search magnifying glass, one obtains the error:
'Site name is not valid. Check your url syntax and try again'
The URL displayed in Fluid user interface contains '/psc/' instead of '/psp/'.
If one manually corrects the URL to contain '/psp/' instead of 'psc', the search works fine.
