Symptoms
A custom Application Engine (AE) program triggers Integration Broker (IB) synchronous messages to a third party system. When the program is run, the following error is seen in the Application Engine log.

Java exception thrown: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: timeout can't be negative
The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Run the custom AE program.
2. Open the AE log, and observe the error above.
