E-MCF: Attempting to Connect Securely to Exchange Mail Server 2013 Returns "Cannot connect to mail server. (162,1560)" Error, and the IB errorLog.html shows "Java.security.InvalidAlgorithmParameterException: The TrustAnchors Parameter Must Be Non-empty"
(Doc ID 2921205.1)
Last updated on MARCH 30, 2023
Applies to:
PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.58 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
After upgrading to PeopleTools (PT) 8.59.11, connecting securely to Exchange Mail Server 2013 from the Multi-Channel Framework (MCF) Email Sample page (Navigation: PeopleTools > Multi-Channel Framework > Email > Email Sample Page) returns the following error.
Error:
Cannot connect to mail server. (162,1560)
Please check the mailbox user name, password, and the mail server you are trying to connect to.
Reviewing the Integration Broker (IB) errorLog.html, the following exception is seen.
Java.security.InvalidAlgorithmParameterException: The TrustAnchors Parameter Must Be Non-empty
Sample Environment:
PeopleTools 8.59.11
Steps to replicate:
1. Set up the PT 8.59.11 environment.
2. Log into PIA, navigate PeopleTools - Multi-Channel Framework (MCF) - Email Sample page
3. Observe the errors when attempting to connect and obtain MessageCount value from Mailbox
Changes
To work around this error on earlier PeopleTools releases, clients used Doc ID 2681178.1 to edit the java options of the PIA server to pass in the keystore path, and an unencrypted password so the GETMAILTARGET Connector could read the keystore successfully.
Starting with PT 8.58.20, 8.59.11 and 8.60, this option of referencing a plaintext password as outlined in the article above, can be avoided.
