E-PIA : Page Crashes with an "An error has occurred." Error When a User Accesses a Deep Link to a Classic Component Page with psc in the URL (Doc ID 2927037.1)

Symptoms

User session crashes with the following error on browser when they open a deep link to a classic component which has psc in the URL. This is not an issue if the URL has psp in it.

An error has occurred.
You may attempt to sign in again.
If your attempt fails, please contact your System Administrator.
Please make sure Webserver and Appserver are up.null

In the application server log file (<PS_CFG_HOME>/appserv/<domain>/LOGS/APPSRV_MMDD.LOG) the crash is reported per example below:

PSAFFIRM(lpcszBind != NULL) failed at /vob/peopletools/src/pssam/samutil.cpp, line 1614.  Processing will abort.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Launch a browser.
  2. Open a deep link with psc in the url of a classic component, below is an example - My System Profile page
    http(s)://<web_server>:<port>/psc/<ps_sitename>/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/MAINTAIN_SECURITY.USERMAINT_SELF.GBL

       3. Above error is shown on the browser.

 

Changes

Upgrade PeopleTools release to 8.60 from lower PeopleTools releases.
