FM EFC Calculator is Producing Signficantly Different EFC in Small Number of Cases Compared to the Value on Original ISIR Calculated by CPS for Aid Year 2023-2024 (Doc ID 2928161.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When invoking the new Federal Methodology (FM) EFC Calculator, by any method for Aid Year 2023-2024, in a small number of cases the new Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is calculating to a different value compared to the value on the original ISIR calculated by the Central Processing System (CPS).

The result produced by the FM EFC Calculator is expected to match what is provided by the CPS, if no corrections have been made to any of the data fields.

The difference in the calculations is significantly more than $1, so this issue is not the same as the one documented in Note 2904958.1. Also, the calculations match in the vast majority of cases, so this issue is not the same as documented in Note 2908034.1.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. For EFC's that were not calculated when the ISIRs loaded, navigate to Financial Aid > File Management > Mass EFC Calculation and run the process using application type Federal (F) for all records.
  2. Write a query to identify differences between the ISIR_00_2_EC.IWD_PRIMARY_EFC (the value from staging on the CPS record) and ISIR_COMPUTED.PRIMARY_EFC for the same EMPLID and AID_YEAR.
  3. Run the query to verify the results. There may be 0 records, 1 record, or a small number.
