EEBI 9.2: Fluid eBill Payment Account Summary and Invoice Balances Pages Are Not Displaying Correct Balances, and Missing Full Invoice Transactions if They Have Payment Method of Direct Debit (Doc ID 2933774.1)

Last updated on MARCH 09, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise SCM eBill Payment - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A couple of problems have been detected while Contact Users are navigating through the Customer Portal using Fluid eBill Payment functionality:

    1) Existing Customer Invoices having defined a Payment Method of Direct Debit, are filtered out, and not displayed in the below pages:
         a) At the eBill Payment Fluid Homepage, the Account Summary Tile displays the incorrect count, as such transactions are not considered
         b) At the Fluid Invoice Balances page (EB_INVOICES_FL), these Invoices are not being displayed

    2) The Total Balance field from the Fluid Account Summary page (EB_ACTG_SUMRY_FL), as well as Fluid Invoice Balances page (EB_INVOICES_FL), does not consider such Invoices

Note that in Online Classic eBill Payment, the Account Balance, and Account Balance Detail delivered pages displayed those Invoice transactions with Payment Method of Direct Debit, and the Balance Amounts were calculating their values within. Such transactions are displayed as grayed out, as they should not be paid via Customer Portal, but via Direct Debit processing in Accounts Receivable.

REPLICATION STEPS:

1.- Log into the EMPLOYEE Portal of the FSCM Online Application as a Receivables User
2.- Define a new Customer with Payment Method of Direct Debit     (Navigation Path: Customers > Customer Information > Create Customer Information > Bill To Options tab)
3.- Create a Customer Contact, link it to the new Customer defined, and grant it to a User ID that has access to Customer Portal     (Navigation Path: Customers > Contact Information)
4.- Create a new Pending Item Group for this Customer, and define 4 Items as below:     (Navigation Path: Accounts Receivable > Pending Items > Online Items > Online Item Group Entry
              a) Item #1: Credit Item with an Amount of -500 USD, with a Payment Type of Direct Debit
              b) Item #2: Debit Item with an Amount of 800 USD, with a Payment Type of Direct Debit
              c) Item #3: Credit Item with an Amount of -400 USD, with a Payment Type of System Check
              d) Item #4: Debit Item with an Amount of 1000 USD, with a Payment Type of System Check
5.- Set the new Pending Item Group to a Post Action of Batch Standard     (Navigation Path: Accounts Receivable > Pending Items > Online Items > Online Item Group Entry > Actions tab)
6.- Launch AR Update with the option of 'Pending Items' selected     (Navigation Path: Accounts Receivable > Receivables Update > Request Receivables Update)
7.- Ensure that all 4 Items have been properly posted against the Customer's Account     (Navigation Path: Accounts Receivable > Customer Accounts > Item Information > View/Update Item Details)
8.- Log into the CUSTOMER Portal of the FSCM Online Application as the Customer Contact User
9.- Go to the eBill Payment Fluid Homepage
10.- PROBLEM #1A: Confirm that the Account Summary Tile is displaying a count of 2, when it should be 4
11.- Click on the Account Summary Tile
12.- PROBLEM #1B: In the Fluid Account Summary page (EB_ACTG_SUMRY_FL), confirm that the Amount column is containing a value of 600.00 USD on the Total Balance and Past Due rows, while it should be 900.00 USD instead (The system is not counting the Items 1 and 2 created, as they are having Payment Method of Direct Debit)
13.- Click on the Total Balance line, to load the Fluid Invoices Balance page (EB_INVOICES_FL)
14.- PROBLEM #2: Confirm that the Items 1 and 2 (defined with Payment Method of Direct Debit) are entirely missing.

To gather more information concerning this scenario and its related problem, refer to the available Replication Steps PDF Document here linked containing the complete configuration and the replication steps necessary to reproduce the issue.

By not displaying Invoice transactions with Payment Method of Direct Debit, Customer Contact Users can get confused and get the wrong impression of the finances of their account, as the Total Balance and Past Due amounts are completely misleading. Because important transaction data is being omitted, the decision making on funding their Bank Accounts for what may become due in the coming weeks/months gets compromised, potentially causing an underfunding of their Bank Accounts, and ultimately incurring into Non-Sufficient-Funds issues when Direct Debit transactions are issued by the company.

Fluid eBill Payment functionality should display all outstanding Invoices of a Customer's Account, including those with Payment Method of Direct Debit. To be consistent with Online Classic functionality, such Direct Debit related transactions should also be grayed out, and not eligible to be selected for the Payment Cart, as these transactions will already be handled via the Direct Debit process in Accounts Receivable module. Total Balance field, and individual Invoice Balance column should display the correct values for such transactions, to provide a clear picture of the customer's current balance.

NOTE: In the images/screenshots/examples mentioned and/or the attached document, user details / company name / address / email / telephone number represent a fictitious sample (based upon made up data used in the Oracle Demo Vision instance).  Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner.
