Symptoms
Pinging a remote PeopleTools (PT) 8.60 node from a PT 8.58 environment fails with the error shown below.
ERROR

IntegrationServiceClient: sendRequestToServer(). Error occured while connecting to AppServer
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
-------------------------------------------------------------
1. Log into a PeopleSoft FSCM environment.
2. Navigate to PeopleTools > Integration Broker > Integration Setup > Nodes, and open the PSFT_HR node.
3. Click on the Connector tab, and press the Ping Node button.
4. Observe the error above.
