E-ES: Full Upgrade From Elasticsearch 7.0 to Elasticsearch 7.10 Errors Out With "Current Elasticsearch Service Is Not Running. Terminating…", As the Process Did Not Recognize the Correct Elasticsearch Hostname (Doc ID 2938325.1)

Last updated on MARCH 28, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.59 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

While performing a full upgrade from Elasticsearch 7.0 to Elasticsearch 7.10, the process did not recognize the correct Elasticsearch (ES) hostname, as specified in the running ES 7.0 elasticsearch.yml (<ES_HOME>\config\elasticsearch.yml) file. That caused the script to error out with the following message.

ERROR
-----------------------
Current Elasticsearch service is not running
Terminating...

ADDITIONAL NOTES
-----------------------
Command used to start the upgrade:
<ELK_INSTALL>\setup>psft-dpk-setup.bat --full_upgrade --install_base_dir <BASE_DIR>

Where:
<ELK_INSTALL> - directory on which the ELK DPK was downloaded and extracted into.
<BASE_DIR>     - full path to where Elasticsearch should be installed.

E.g.:
    D:\PSOFT\Download\ELK-DPK-WIN-7.10.0_09\setup>psft-dpk-setup.bat --full_upgrade --install_base_dir D:\PSOFT

The Elasticsearch Service was running and port was listening.
