ePro Requisition Change Template, Can We UnGrey 'Update PO' Column Checkbox for Any Requisition Fields That Are Currently Greyed Out?

Goal
Some fields in the Change Template for ePro Requisition have the ‘Update PO’ column checkbox ungreyed whereas most of the fields have the checkbox greyed out. A customer would like to be able to check the ‘Update PO’ column checkbox for the custom fields that are currently greyed out, for example, the two custom date fields, CUSTOM_DATE_C1 and CUSTOM_DATE_C2, in the record REQ_LINE_SHIP.
Is there a configuration option to ungrey these checkboxes, or is this working as designed?
Navigation: Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Product Related > Procurement Options > Purchasing > Purchase Order Change Template, select Change Template Type 'Requisition', click Search
