E-IB: Document Based SOAP Response Message is Truncated When Containing a Special Kanji Character (Doc ID 2943871.1)

Symptoms

Site has a PeopleSoft (PS) provider service in which a Document based SOAP response message is sent to a 3rd party. When the response message contains a special Japanese Kanji character, the message is truncated, incomplete and invalid XML, and the 3rd party fails to process it. The following error is seen in a 3rd party log file.
 



Steps to replicate:
1. Create a PS provider SOAP web service with a Document based response message.
2. Add the special Kanji character to the response message data.
3. Send in a test message.
4. Open the msgLog.html, and observe that the response message does not close all tags after encountering the Kanji character.
