E-NV: nVision Variables do not Get Resolved When Used with Hidden Sheet in Tools 8.59 (Doc ID 2949477.1)

Last updated on MAY 22, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.59 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

nVision variables do not resolve when used with hidden sheet.

To display the Report Title and variables in the Tabular layouts it needs to use a matrix sheet which could be hidden. By design, the variables cannot be inserted into a tabular layout, so the report title cannot be generated automatically without having a matrix sheet inserted.

Steps:
1. Create a tabular layout.
2. Insert a second sheet into the Excel workbook as a matrix sheet (e.g. Sheet2).
3. Use the %RTT% variable in the matrix sheet in cell D5 to create the report title.
4. Make an entry for intra-sheet reference in Excel on the tabular sheet, %RTT% =Sheet2!D5, for the Report Title.
5. Run the report and the Report Title appears on the tabular report.

In environments with Tools version lower than 8.59, that second sheet (matrix) can be hidden and the variables resolve successfully when the report is run.

In 8.59 environment the variables do not get resolved when used from hidden sheet.
