Student Invoices Show An Inconsistent Residency Status When A Student Has Changed Residency (Doc ID 2969908.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 26, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Student Financials - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a student changes residency as of a specific term, tuition calculation correctly uses the new residency value in the calculation of fees. When the student's charges are billed after the residency change, the invoice created for the student may not show the current residency value.  In some examples, the student's prior term residency value is reported on the invoice.

The expectation is the student's residency for the specific term charges being invoiced is reflected on the invoice, or when invoicing charges from several terms, the student's current term residency should be reported.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1.  Navigate to Student Financials, Bill Customers, Student Bills, Create Billing Request;
  2.  Create a billing request for one student for a term where the student has changed residency;
  3.  Save the billing request number, and note the billing request ID;
  4.  Navigate to Student Financials, Bill Customers, Student Bills, Generate Invoice;
  5.  Complete the run control, using the billing request ID created in Step 3;
  6.  Submit the process to the process scheduler;
  7.  Navigate to Student Financials, Bill Customers, Student Bills, Print Invoice;
  8.  Print the invoice created from Steps 5 and 6;
  9.  Note the residency shown on the student's invoice is the previous residency value, not the residency value for the term being billed.
