Mass EFC Calculation Not Updating Federal Need, Which Remains Zero When the Budget is Greater Than Zero (Doc ID 2973118.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After running the Mass EFC Calculation, as part of the ISIR Load or standalone,  the students calculated are showing a Federal Need of 0, instead of the expected value of the Cost of Attendance (COA) minus the calculated EFC.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Identify a student (emplid on record STDNT_AWD_PER) where the Need Summary shows a Federal COA > 0 but Need = 0.
  2. Verify the student has a row on the INAS_CALC_RECS table with calculation type of 'B' or 'F'. If necessary, run a Population Update to insert the student into the table.
  3. Navigate to Financial Aid > File Management > Mass EFC Calculation and run the process.
  4. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > Award Processing > Assign Awards to a Student > Need Summary and verify the Federal Need still shows 0 when the value of COA - EFC is > 0.
