Does Equation Engine Global Variable I_TOTAL_AWD_AMT Exclude Amounts for Item Types Set Up with 'Meet Need/Cost' of 'No Effect'? (Doc ID 2974107.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The delivered global variable I_TOTAL_AWD_AMT, for use in Packaging equations, is supposed to represent "Sum of all award packaged to this point." However, it appears that item types set up with Meet Need/Cost = 'No Effect'  are not included in the variable total.

The 'No Effect' setting - represented in the database with ITEM_TYPE_FA.MEET_NEED_COST = '6' - is defined on Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > Awards > Financial Aid Item Types > FA Item Type 2.  The determination of the exclusion of the 'No Effect' amounts from I_TOTAL_AWD_AMT is made when running or testing equations that do not produce the expected results. Adding a 'Message' line in the equation can also verify the I_TOTAL_AWD_AMT calculated at any point.

More information is needed on exactly how I_TOTAL_AWD_AMT is calculated - if ' no effect' award amounts are intentionally excluded and if there are any other conditions that will similarly exclude amounts from being added to the total.
