E-SEARCH: OpenSearch Intermittently Gives Error -- No results to display

Symptoms
OpenSearch indexes and Insights dashboards are successfully installed and deployed. Users are able to get results and can see dashboards and visualizations without any problem. Intermittently, OpenSearch is not available all of a sudden. After sometime, it becomes functional again without any intervention.
Users usually get "No results to display" when they search, see screen shot below:
The issue can also manifest itself in many other ways, not only while searching, e.g. user may get the following error when they try to look at an Insights dashboard:
Other times, user may be trying to deploy an Insights dashboard and sees the below error on the screen:
Or user may face the following error when they try to ping OpenSearch:
