E-ES: Global Search - Incorrect Search Results In Non-English Languages (Dutch And French) (Doc ID 2989788.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 03, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.59 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On Peopletools  8.59.11 one is experiencing an issue with the global search functionality  when using non-English languages, specifically Dutch and French. While Global search works fine in English, it does not provide accurate search results and the appearance is incorrect on the search result page for Dutch and French. One uses the global search feature for the menu (PTPORTALREGISTRY). However, the search results and appearance on the search result page are not correct , while they are correct on the menu and suggested results.

For example:

For ' tools hidden' the message should be ‘No results to display’ in Global search and if one clicks Enter then: ‘No results were returned. Refine your search by entering a different keyword.’

However once you login in Dutch, as soon as you get the ‘No results to display’ equivalent in Dutch in Global search, if you click Enter then you obtain the results displayed which should not be the case.

To troubleshoot the issue, one tested with existing hidden portal references like PT_TOOLS_HIDDEN. However, the problem persists.
Configuration:
- Setting folder/Content Ref Administration selected: "Hide from portal navigation".
- Search Definition: PTPORTALREGISTRY.
- Indexing Type: Full Index.
- Language Option: All languages.
- Languages: English, Dutch, and French.

Note that 'tools hidden' are checked for ‘Hide from portal navigation’ in PIA navigation: Portal->Structure and Content.

The issue can be replicated in a multi-language environment using below replication steps:

1. Login to PIA in non-English languages, specifically Dutch and French.
2. Search for 'tools hidden' in Global search.
3. You obtain the ‘No results to display’ equivalent in Dutch in Global search.
4. If you click 'Enter' then you get the results displayed which should not be the case.
