'Page data is inconsistent with database. (18,1)' Error is Triggered On Distributed User Profiles (USERMAINT_DIST) After Page Field Configuration Changes are Applied (Doc ID 2998643.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 12, 2025

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Human Resources - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The following error is seen after applying changes through Page and Field Configurator (PFC) to the USERMAINT_DIST component.
This error is seen upon saving a second change to a user profile, without exiting the user profile after saving the previous change.
This error does not occur without the page field configuration and is consistently occurring across CS, FMS, and HCM instances where the PFC change has been applied.

Error Message:
Page data is inconsistent with database. (18,1)

When trying to save your page data, the system found that the information currently in the database did not match what was expected.

This problem can happen if another user has changed the same information while you were making your changes. Note the changes you have made, then cancel the page. Reload the page and view any changes made by the other user. Ensure your changes are compatible and retry, if appropriate.

If the problem persists, it may be a result of an application or other programming error and should be reported to technical support staff.

Possible application errors that can cause this message include:
- changing page data from SavePostChange PeopleCode, without making a corresponding change to the database.
- changing the database via SqlExec at various points, for data that is also in the component buffers.
- database auto-update fields maintained by triggers didn't get defined correctly in Record Field definition or in Record Properties definition.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Navigate to Enterprise Components > Page and Field Configuration > Page and Field Configurator and search/click Add a New Value button using the component USERMAINT_DIST.
2. Enable Disable Entry for some fields or all fields.
3. Use Validate Configuration button and then save the changes.
4. Navigate to PeopleTools > Security > User Profiles > Distributed User Profiles> User Roles, add a role and save the page without exiting it.
5. Add/remove a role and try to save this second change, this is when error message is triggered.
