E-PN: / E-WL: 'EventDispatcher Died' Filling NTservice-peoplesoft-PIA.log (Doc ID 3010452.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 22, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.59 to 8.61 [Release 8.4]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After applying the latest corresponding Infra-DPKs to environments on PeopleTools 8.60.12 and PeopleTools 8.61.02, these using Tuxedo 12.2.2 and Tuxedo 22.1.0 respectively, lots of errors in NTservice-peoplesoft-PIA.log located at <PS_CFG_HOME>\webserv\<DOMAIN_NAME>\servers\PIA\log were observed, such as:

EventDispatcher died:
bea.jolt.SessionException: Connection send error\nbea.jolt.JoltException: [1] NwHdlr.recv(): Network Error\njava.io.EOFException
at bea.jolt.JoltSession.recv(JoltSession.java:651)
at bea.jolt.EventDispatcher.run(JoltSession.java:1103)

After a day, the logfile is filled up to 10GB with the same error.

Similarly, on Linux machines, PIA webserver stderr output (currently logged to the file - PIA_stderr.log) grows abnormally to consume large amount of diskspace. PIA_stderr.log file can be found inside webserver domain at the location $PS_CFG_HOME/webserv/<Domain_name>/servers/PIA/logs folder. There have been instances in testing environments, where the size file has grown up to 49 GB.

PIA stderr.log repeatedly contains the following stack trace, repeated thousands of time, over short span of time.

EventDispatcher died:
bea.jolt.SessionException: Connection send error\nbea.jolt.JoltException: CMgr:recv()Invalid MsgId
at bea.jolt.JoltSession.recv(JoltSession.java:651)
at bea.jolt.EventDispatcher.run(JoltSession.java:1103)
