When Invoking IM INAS for Aid Year 2025, the 'Calculate PC for Independent' Option is Being Ignored Unless Set on the IM Extension Record (Doc ID 3031193.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 07, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When invoking Institutional Methodology (IM) INAS for Aid Year 2025, for Independent Students,  the 'Calculate PC for Independent' option is ignored by calculation - or at least the Computation Summary tab is not updated to indicate the Parental Contribution has been calculated.

The issue occurs specifically when the IM Extension record is *not* populated for the student. In these cases, it's expected the calculation should use all options as set in the Need Analysis Options (NAO) configured with the College Board, and this works for most settings. But for the 'Calculate PC for Independent' option specifically, even when the field is verified to be set in the NAO, it is not being reflected in the calculation result posted to the Computation Summary tab.

The correct/expected result can be obtained only when the IM extension record is populated, with the box checked on the Extension Options 1 page.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > Application Processing > NA 2024–2025 Global Options > Global Options and verify the fields for Option Set ID and College Code are populated correctly.
  2. On the College Board NAO, verify the settings for the matching/intended Option Set ID, including the 'Calculate PC for Independent' option checked ON.
  3. Navigate to Financial Aid > Institutional Application Data > Maintain Application 2024-2025 for an Independent Student with parental data.
  4. Click the 'IM' link to delete any row previously populated; if there is no data currently populated, do not enter any new data.
  5. Click INAS.
  6. On Computation Summary tab, note no values are populated in the section for Parental Contribution.

Changes

The issue occurs after applying PRP 35266241 - 2024-2025 Aid Year Setup for Institutional Methodology (IM), which first delivered the ability to calculate the IM EFC for Aid Year 2024-2025.
