Academic Progress Tracker: Apt Enrollment Creates Enrollment Records Under the Wrong Academic Program - Based on Highest Effective Sequence Instead of Most Recent Effective Date, as Selected From SSR_STU_CAR_NBR View (Doc ID 3039859.1)

Symptoms

With the Academic Progress Tracker (APT), when running APT Enrollment, some students end up with the APT Enrollment request and Student Enrollment record created under the wrong/unexpected academic program. The issue is seen to occur specifically when the student has multiple program rows on Student Program/Plan, where one of the program rows has an early effective date but a higher effective SEQUENCE than the other program row, like so:

In these cases, the enrollment information is expected to be created for the program row with the highest current effective date, but instead the records are created using the row with the highest sequence. In the example above, the student's enrollment would be created for the BA program instead of the expected BS.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Query ACAD_PROG to find a student with two different programs in the pattern shown above.
  2. Navigate to Records and Enrollment > Career and Program Information > Student Program/Plan > Student Program for the student and retrieve the row for the program with the most recent effective date; also ensure the effective date on this row is <= the Term Begin Date and Max Program Effdt for Term on the Set Up SACR > Foundation Tables > Term Setup > Term/Session Table > Term Table, for the career and enrollment term.
  3. Click the link for APT Instance and create a new instance if not already populated.
  4. Navigate to the APT instance in Records and Enrollment > Program Enrollment > Academic Progress Tracker and verify there is a row on the Timeline tab.
  5. On the AIR Tree tab, create a plan node.
  6. Navigate to Records and Enrollment > Program Enrollment > APT Enrollment; populate parameters, click 'Fetch Classes' button, and run the process.
  7. Navigate to Records and Enrollment > Enroll Students > Block Enrollment > Block Enroll Merge > Block Enrl Detail1 and/or Records and Enrollment > Enroll Students > Enrollment > Student Enrollment 1 and note the Academic Program field is populated with the other Program.
