ERS 9.2: Modifying the Start/End Date Value on a Given Assignment, and Setting Its Status Into Complete Does Not Automatically Update the Resource’s Schedule, Leaving Records PS_RS_DF_WRKR_DATE and PS_RS_SCHED_TASK out of Synch (Doc ID 3042657.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 22, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Resource Management - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A problem has been detected with the FIN Resource Management Assignment functionality, (Component RS_ASSIGNMENT), where despite having the 'Synchronous Calendar Update' check-box selected at the FIN Resource Management Installation Options, an Assignment Date change, with a Status set to Complete, does not automatically update the Resource's Schedule, leaving Records PS_RS_DF_WRKR_DATE and PS_RS_SCHED_TASK with no longer valid rows.

REPLICATION STEPS:

1.- Log into the FSCM Online Application as a Staffing Coordinator in Resource Management module
2.- Navigate to: Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Install > Installation Options > Resource Management
3.- On the 'Calendar Options' section, make sure to select the 'Synchronous Calendar Update' check-box
4.- Navigate to: Resource Management > Maintain Schedules > Review Resource Monthly Schedule
5.- Open Employee ID that will be used as Resource for the test
6.- Confirm that for the months of January, February, and March 2024, the schedule is empty
7.- Navigate to: Resource Management > Assign Resource
8.- Add a new Assignment into the system for this Employee, requesting 8 hours a day, from January 1st to March 30th 2024, on given Project ID AAA, and Task Category Billable External (BE)
9.- Set the status as Assign, and save the changes, confirming the Assignment ID creation
10.- Query Record PS_RS_DF_WRKR_DATE for the Assignment ID in question, and confirm that it has been updated with 65 rows that span from beginning of January to end of March on all business days
11.- Query Record PS_RS_SCHED_TASK for the Assignment ID in question, and confirm that it has been updated with 65 rows that span from beginning of January to end of March on all business days
12.- Navigate to: Resource Management > Maintain Schedules > Review Resource Monthly Schedule
13.- Open the Employee at hand once again, and confirm that for the whole months of January, February, and March 2024, the schedule is now reflecting the new Assignment
14.- Navigate to: Resource Management > Assign Resource
15.- Open the recently created Assignment ID
16.- Change the End Date from an existing value of March 31st 2024, to January 31st 2024
17.- From the Assignment Status drop-down list, select the value of Complete
18.- A new pop-up window gets displayed for the Assignment Status
19.- Select the status of Complete, define today's date in the As of Date field, and enter a justification in the Comments field
    20.- Click on OK button
21.- Back in the Assignment page, save the changes
22.- PROBLEM: Query Record PS_RS_DF_WRKR_DATE for the Assignment ID in question, and confirm that it still stores 65 rows, including those for February and March 2024, when it should not
23.- PROBLEM: Query Record PS_RS_SCHED_TASK for the Assignment ID in question, and confirm that it still stores 65 rows, including those for February and March 2024, when it should not
24.- Navigate to: Resource Management > Maintain Schedules > Review Resource Monthly Schedule
25.- PROBLEM: Open the Employee at hand once again, and confirm that for the whole months of February, and March 2024, still have the Assignment ID being listed, when only January should

To gather more information concerning this scenario and its related problem, refer to the available Replication Steps PDF Document here linked containing the complete configuration and the replication steps necessary to reproduce the problem.

The fact that the Records PS_RS_DF_WRKR_DATE, and PS_RS_SCHED_TASK, are not updated automatically/synchronously, affects the potential Express Search and Staffing Workbench Fulfill Order searches for potential Resources on given time periods. The Resource affected would show as unavailable for February and March 2024 with conflicting dates, if such search would be done, discarding the Resource on potential Assignments or Service Orders, when it may have been the ideal candidate.

When an Assignment status is set to Complete, the system should update the Resource Calendar in a synchronous manner, without having to wait for the Cache Administration process, (RS_CACHE_AD AE Program), to be run manually, so that Records PS_RS_DF_WRKR_DATE, and PS_RS_SCHED_TASK, are brought back in-synch.
