'Use Which EFC' Option Fields Act as a Single Shared Field and Cannot be Populated Separately on the IM and IM NCP Extension 2 Pages (Doc ID 3045765.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 28, 2025

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The 'Use Which EFC' field appears as two separate fields within the IM and IM NCP links on the Maintain Application 2024-2025 component.

However, these two fields act as a single field and cannot be populated separately. When initially populating the extension record by adding the rule set, the ‘Use Which EFC’ value from the global options for the rule set displays for BOTH fields on the component pages, but in the table only the EFC_USE_IM is populated,  SFA_NCP_EFC_USE_IM is left blank. Likewise, if either field is manually updated or deleted on the extension page, the update is reflected on both extension pages and updated in EFC_USE_IM with SFA_NCP_EFC_USE_IM remaining BLANK. The SFA_NCP_EFC_USE_IM never gets populated in any circumstance.

Either the two fields should be more clearly represented on the pages as one shared field, if that is the intent; or if they are really meant to be used as two separate fields, any actions taken on the extension pages should result in the two fields being populated separately, just like all of the other option fields that exist on both pages and as two separate fields on the INAS_PROF_EXT table.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. On Financial Aid > Institutional Application Data > Maintain Application 2024-2025, click link for 'IM' (on any tab other than Non Custodial Parent Data) or 'IM NCP' (on Non Custodial Parent Data tab) and populate the Option Rule Set.
  2. Click link to the Extension 2 page and note the 'Use Which EFC' field  is populated with the same value defined for the Rule Set on  Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > Application Processing > NA 2024–2025 Global Options > Global Options.
  3. If in the 'IM' link, click out and navigate to the 'IM NCP' link - or vice versa - then click link to the Extension 2 page and note the same value from step 2 is already populated.
  4. Click out and save the change, then query INAS_PROF_EXT and the fields EFC_USE_IM and SFA_NCP_EFC_USE_IM and note only the EFC_USE_IM is populated, and SFA_NCP_EFC_USE_IM is blank.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 starting in the 'IM' link, and manually change the field to one of the other options, and note the same results.
  6. Repeat steps 1-4 again this time starting in the 'IM NCP' link, manually changing the field to a different option, and note the same results.
