E-SSL: Unable To Ping Integration Broker After Renewing SSL Certificate (Doc ID 3050386.1)

Symptoms

Unable to ping Integration Broker Gateway after renewing the SSL certificates.

Previously the PeopleSoft certificate applied had only a root and a server certificate. Upon renewing, the certificate authority added an intermediate certificate, i.e. the chain now looks like this:

root + intermediate + server certificate

The renewed certificates were applied to the Weblogic pskey and also into the PeopleSoft database through the Digital Certificates page. Yet pinging the Integration Broker Gateway or trying to access the Report Repository fails.
