Advisement Report Will Show Course Available to Meet a Requirement if the Catalog Number is Changed on the Course after the Student Has Completed the Course. (Doc ID 3053555.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 15, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Academic Advisement - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A new effective dated row was added  to a course  in the course catalog and on the course offer page CRSE_CATALOG_OFFER to change the catalog number.
Students who took and passed the course under the old catalog number in a prior term are showing  the new catalog number to fulfill the academic requirement on their printed Advisement Report, even though they have already taken the course.
Since the COURSE number is the same and only the catalog number changed the Requirement should not display the course as being available to meet the requirement.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1 Term activate a UGRD student as a LAU program BA-ENGL plan in the demo environment.
2. Modify the academic requirement 000001082 for DIST - Social Science to require 6 units. 2 classes for this test
3. Enroll the student in Sociology 100 in a prior term and give the student a passing grade.
4. Run the advisement report of the student
5. Print the pdf and note that sociology 100 is not listed as a course available to meet the requirement.
6. Open the course catalog and add a new effective dated row to Sociology 100 dating it yesterday , on the 2nd tab change the catalog number  to 111 and save.
7 Rerun the students academic advisement report and view the printed pdf to see that the course ...sociology 100... was taken and graded and the same course soc 111 (with the new catalog number) is listed as available to meet the requirement
