Goal

Patch 36701601, delivered in Tax update 24-C, modified the direct deposit file to comply with new Nacha specifications, which will become effective March 20, 2026:

"MODIFY DIRECT DEPOSIT FILE TO ADOPT NACHA RULE CHANGE ON COMPANY ENTRY DESCRIPTION FOR PAYROLL CREDITS DDP001.SQR creates the Direct Deposit Transmittal File. Patch 36701601 modifies the program to comply with new Nacha specifications, which will become effective March 20, 2026. The new Nacha file format requirements specify that the Company Entry Description field in the Company/Batch Header Record contains the word “PAYROLL” when the batch contains credits for the payment of wages, salaries, or similar types of compensation. Prior to the modifications, the Company Entry Description field was populated with the phrase “DIR DEP”.

Should the patch be implemented now or only on March 20th, 2026?
